  • Bariatric Evaluation Michigan: A serene office space featuring a wooden desk and comfortable chair positioned by a window. Sunlight filters through the plans, creating a tranquil atmosphere.

    Psychological Evaluation

Our evaluation consists of an interview and psychological testing. We discuss your goals and expectations related to bariatric surgery. Our goal is to educate you on the process of bariatric surgery and weight loss as it relates to your mental health, inform you of the obstacles some patients face throughout the process, and help you develop a plan to ensure the most successful surgery outcome possible.

We discuss mental health, disordered eating, emotional eating, body image, and barriers that may prevent you from realizing success. We also explore behavior modifications necessary for you to thrive post-surgery. Our psychologists provide individualized recommendations to help you on your journey.

    Pre and Post Surgery Therapy

Bariatric surgery impacts your well-being and mental health in many ways. Some of these changes are incredible, and some can be challenging. We are here to support you in navigating through the challenges and to celebrate your success.

Some difficulties include an increase in mental health concerns such as mood instability, anxiety, depression, grief around no longer having food as a comfort, development of eating disorders, and changes in relationships following bariatric surgery.

Therapy with our psychologists and counselors who specialize in bariatric care can be a valuable and supportive resource both before and after surgery.
